Counselling is the skilled and principled use of relationship to facilitate self- knowledge, emotional acceptance and growth and the optimal development of personal resources. Career counselling relationship is concerned with addressing and resolving specific educational and professional issues and making choices.
Counselling is a relational process based upon the ethical use of specific professional competencies to facilitate human change. Career counselling addresses wellness, personal growth and career development. The counselling process is characterized by the application of recognized developmental, behavioural, learning, and systemic principles.
Analysis of personal, school and professional history; identification of achievements: studies and work; establishment of professional needs; evaluation using psychometric questionnaires concerning interests, personality and academic abilities.
Validation of the results to the psychometric evaluations, establishment of the professional profile, exploration of compatible careers, identification of a target career (s).
Research on professional working conditions and adjustment of choice accordingly. Research and identification of school program (s) leading to professional choice. Realization of a realistic and motivating action plan.
